Bridges

118A bridge is a dental restoration used to replace one or more missing teeth on one side of the mouth when functionality and appearance have been compromised. Dental bridges are made by joining permanently two adjacent teeth.

Dental bridges are fabricated by reducing the teeth on either side of the missing tooth/teeth, in order to have enough space to accommodate the material to be used to restore the size/shape of the original teeth. Your bridge will be created from impressions your dentist makes of your teeth so your caps fit perfectly. A dental technician will then make the bridge in a laboratory and once it is cemented in your mouth, your dentist will ensure the bite and appearance are correct.

Bridges allow you to eat without damaging the existing teeth or gums, and also help to maintain the alignment of the teeth so they don’t “fall”, tilt or rotate into the existing gap(s).
