Why choosing dental implants is an investment in your smile and your future

By choosing dental implants to replace your missing teeth, you are not just investing in your smile, but in your ongoing health and in your future. At PS Dental Care in Soho we offer a number of implant solutions, designed to replace one, some, or even all of your natural teeth.

Benefits of dental implants

Compared with traditional tooth replacements – standard bridgework or dentures – dental implants have many benefits. One of the most important is their permanence – with regular visits to our Soho dental practice for aftercare, your implants and the teeth attached to them could last you for life.

A traditional dental bridge requires support from your adjacent teeth. This may involve removing healthy tooth structure for the placement of crowns, and requires supporting teeth to be strong and free from large fillings. By using dental implants to support your bridge, no work is needed on your other teeth, ensuring they stay strong and healthy.

Modern dentures are both aesthetically pleasing and functional, but because they do nothing to address the problem of missing tooth roots, the jaw bone often starts to shrink. This can lead to your dentures becoming loose, making eating and speaking difficult and impacting on your confidence if they are prone to slipping.

Dental implants prevent all of these problems. The only way your dentist can replace your tooth roots, they don’t only hold your new teeth in place, but also actively support bone growth, avoiding the problems caused by bone loss and meaning you can eat, speak, smile and socialise with confidence.

Most people need only local anaesthetic for the placement of dental implants at our Soho dental practice. Once your implants are in position, they will be left to heal and integrate with your jaw bone for a few months. Temporary teeth may be attached during this time.

After healing is complete, you will be called back to our Soho clinic so that your dentist can attach your permanent new teeth. Depending on your clinical need, this may be a single crown, a bridge, or implant-retained dentures.
